Senior Student Feature: Alissa Puder

When you talk with Alissa Puder, the 2017/2018 recipient of the Christian Women's Leadership Circle Scholarship, you wonder when she finds the time for sleep!  A Wisconsin native who graduated from Shoreland Lutheran High School, Alissa is finishing her four years at Wisconsin Lutheran College in a flurry of activity.  Graduating with a double major in English and History, Alissa is also planning her September 2018 wedding to Noah Schriefer, a WLC grad whom she met in her sophomore year at WLC.  They will be moving to California, where Noah will enroll in chiropractor school. Attending WLC has given Alissa a number of opportunities to develop her leadership skills.  She is a team leader in the Student Employment Office on campus, and oversees five students in her role.  Starting out as an office assistant, she learned many aspects of the organization before being promoted to a team leader.  "I serve as an ambassador to students, dealing with issues they might encounter in their jobs on campus, as well as assisting those looking for work here."   Last year Alissa planned the Student Employee Appreciation Celebration - a week of activities to thank and encourage the 400 students who work on campus.  Alissa also interns at the WELS Center for Mission and Ministry as an archives assistant two days a week.

On the Dean's List five times, Alissa shared her appreciation for the WLC faculty, "The professors are so helpful and encouraging. The small class size allows for more interaction with the professors than you find in larger colleges."

Alissa visited four colleges before deciding on WLC.  "I attended private schools all my life, so it was natural that I would consider WLC.  I am happy I made the decision to attend here. I love having access to chapel and vespers on campus. I have made so many new friends in the last four years, and, I met my future husband here!"  "WLC has pushed me to express my Christian leadership skills and grow in my faith."

"I am so thankful for the CWLC Scholarship.  It is one of many blessings I've received through my hard work here."

As Alissa moves on to another exciting chapter in her life, the CWLC wishes her God's continued blessings, knowing that her education and experiences at WLC will help her to continue to share her Christian leadership skills in years to come.
