The first CWLC member event was held on Thursday, November 10. Twenty-one members and guests toured the WELS Center for Mission and Ministry on Stone Ridge Road in Waukesha. Following a most cordial welcome to the beautiful Visitors Center, which displays an archival history of the WELS, we viewed a 15-minute “preview” of the movie “Luther” which will air on PBS in 2017. Keep your eye tuned for the dates and times of this upcoming documentary . . . you may be surprised by the “celebrities” who appear.

Then, we were greeted most unexpectedly by President Mark Schroeder who shared time and ideas with us. Finally, and most WONDERFULLY, we met Joy Lenz who introduced us to Katie Luther, the wife of Martin. Joy was a delightful story-teller . . . identifying Katie as a most hospitable, courageous, loyal and devoted wife. Joy’s tales were based on the book Katharina Von Bora by Rudolph Markwald.

CWLC concluded its first member event with a delicious lunch (on your own) at the near-by Thunder Bay Restaurant. The four-hour experience was altogether fun, educational, and inspirational. We hope you can join us for our Spring Event.
